H. G. WELLS "THE TIME MACHINE"
THE BRIEF
As my graded project in second year of college I was asked to create a miniature of a time machine using the descriptions from the original text by H. G. Wells.

The design is inspired by the shape of an hourglass.

The materials are a combination of MDF, acrylic rods, pre bought plastic eggs, acrylic and styrene.

It took one month to make and finish the model.
CONSTRUCTION
The base and top were made from MDF which was engraved on a laser cutter with time symbols.
Small brass screws were also added.
The supports have been made using pre bought beads.
The main hourglass shape is made from pre bought plastic eggs which fit together.
Pre bought acrylic rods (with a white decorative spiral) were heated in the vacuum former then bent around and eggs shape. This surrounded the time machine and linked all the components.
Smaller details were then added to include other descriptions from the book. These included a control panel, multiple dials, a saddle like seat and a quartz crystal surrounded by the pre bought acrylic pipes.
PAINTING AND FINISHING
Each part was painted an appropriate colour as what is referenced in the book. I also made a base from acrylic which looks like a Victorian tiled floor and a rough advertisement poster.

The base and top are spray painted a glossy black with brass screws.
The supports are spray painted a satin brass colour as described from the text.
The control panel is painted to look like nickel and the dials are painted black to work with the clear acrylic.
