THE BRIEF
During a course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland I was asked to make a model box for the set for Macbeth.

I decided to keep the set traditional to the original text.
I did want the design to be simple and not include too many different pieces however be able to adapt to different scenes.

It took me one week to complete the model.
CONSTRUCTION
The set is build from foam board, card, balsa wood and poly filler.
It is set up for a specific scene in the play.

It begins with Lady Macbeth in a hallway in the Castle.
The archways remain on stage at all times.
There are two doors and three sections of wall added into the gaps to create the appearance of a hall.

The stage is raised to create height for the audience to look up at the events unfolding.
The floor is made to look like stone however there would be a cloth to cover which would have straw and mud added to create a courtyard scene.

As the scene changes the doors and walls are removed to only leave the archways.
This now creates a balcony or outdoors scene.

An idea is for the archway to split in the middle and each half be pushed to the side. This would create a perspective view of the castle and its walls.
